Arches National Park: Honeymoon Roadtrip Day 6 & 7

Delicate Arch Arches National Park

We packed up at Mather Campground on our sixth day of the honeymoon road trip and headed North East (ish) to get to Arches National Park. We had never gone out the East entrance/exit of Grand Canyon NP and ended up LOVING it. The road is very curvy and narrow at parts; which makes it impossible for the tour busses to take. We stopped at several different view points and historical sites and all of them were crowd free! A post covering that entire stretch of road is coming soon!

18,000 steps in Las Vegas and where to spend them

Sunrise in Las Vegas, 6/13/19

On our first full day in Las Vegas we woke up like clockwork at 6am. We set up our time-lapse before attempting to fall back asleep; but eventually gave in to our desire to explore.

We were staying at the Paris hotel which is directly across the street from the Bellagio and diagonal from Ceasars palace. Luckily this wasn’t our first time to Las Vegas and we knew to watch out for “walking traps” in Las Vegas. We also knew spots we wanted to revisit, especially some free ones! Here’s a break down:

Mather Campground at the Grand Canyon: Rainy Sunsets and Full Moons

On the fourth day of our honeymoon road trip we drove from Las Vegas to Mather Campground at Grand Canyon National park.

Mather Campground has been a favorite campsite of ours since we first stayed there five years ago. It offers large campsites that have plenty of space between them and plenty of restrooms, so you never feel crowded. Mather also has showers, a laundry room, a post office, bank, trailheads, ranger programs, and a grocery/general store all within walking distance.

Adding a day to our honeymoon road trip

Night one, 6/11/19 Agua Dulce California

We were supposed to leave from LA to Las Vegas on June 12th, but when we heard a good friend was going to be at his parents for the weekend to lift his Subaru, well, we wanted in. So we left a day early, turning our 40 day road trip into a 41 day road trip.

Jeep Update: Testing our McLean Metalwork Hammock Hitch Mount and DJI Osmo Pocket Camera

McLean Metal Works Hammock Hitch Mount
The new setup: Ursa Minor camper top and McLean Metalworks hammock hitch mount.

McLean Metalworks has solved our hammock dilemma. One of our favorite campsite activities is relaxing in our hammocks, but it’s not always easy to find a spot to set them up. Most National Parks don’t allow guests to tie up hammocks because they could destroy the natural environment; and places like the side of PCH (pictured above) don’t have trees or rocks to tie up too.
